A warm welcome from James
Whether you’re seeking a romantic celebration à deux or a spirited party with family and friends, I’ll try to make your holiday memorable. Here’s what some of my guests had to say.
Stunning and restful home
Our family of six stayed at La Brocanterie over the New Year’s holiday (2015). After a long drive it was unbelievably wonderful to arrive at the house and find Debbie there with the house all lit up, a fire going, music playing, essential groceries stocked and a very nice basket of Normandy goodies. What a welcome! …. We especially enjoyed the common areas in this home — the layout of the living spaces is such that you can have great family time, but still not feel like you are all on top of each other. My younger kids enjoyed the game room, while the rest of us spent a good bit of time reading and relaxing in the beautifully furnished and superbly comfortable lounge. We prepared several meals in the house and found everything we needed in the well-equipped kitchen (huge bonus points for the Nespresso machine!). The local area was charming and we had several meals out including New Years lunch at a Michelin starred restaurant minutes from the house.
We have stayed in many homes in many countries over the years and this was the family favourite. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

A great holiday
My family and I stayed at La Brocanterie in July 2013 and we were blown away by this fabulous chic coastal property! The interior of the house has to be seen to be believed and is the best self catering property we have stayed in over a 20 year period…All in all a fantastic find and I highly recommend La Brocanterie to anyone wanting to spend time in this beautiful, peaceful part of Normandy!

It’s taken us a bit of time to come back to earth after our amazing stay at La Brocanterie. The house is a stunning example of how a lovely old property can be renovated to produce a simply stunning combination of modern and antique. The coast is fab and we recommend the beach restaurant (Debbie provides all the details in her fantastic book of blurb). We had a great time collecting moules and cooking them at home (I say ‘home’ – it wasn’t of course, sadly, but felt just as if it was).
PUKKA, SUPERB, FANTASTIC! And the ultimate accolade – we would absolutely, definitely unquestionably stay again!

The home (La Brocanterie) is in a peaceful, remote location and for the first time in many years we really felt as though we were away from it all and could relax! Beaches are a very short drive from the house and the sights we wanted to see ; Mont Saint Michel and Omaha Beach/American Cemetery etc were easy day trips.
The house was impeccably decorated, spotless and had absolutely everything we needed. A hidden gem!

A beautiful retreat
The house (La Brocanterie) was stunning – above and beyond our expectations. We had 7 adults and 2 toddlers in our group and there was more than adequate space and we never felt on top of each other with plenty of room for the children to run about. The layout is brilliant and the pool fantastic. Debbie and James were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The location of the property is great – local shops/markets and plenty of day trips 20-60 mins away. It would appeal to people of all ages and is very family friendly.

Wonderful big house in beautiful Normandy!
We spent 2 weeks in June at there (Mon Souvenir) with our 4 kids ages 3-15 and had a super time! The house is so big, comfortable and well equipped; games, ping-pong table, large selection of books, DVDs and plenty of space for everyone to play/relax. And great for day trips too – you can get almost everywhere in about 1 – 1.5 hours max, from Mont Saint Michel to the D-Day museums, Bayeux etc…there’s so much to see and do, 2 weeks wasn’t enough!

Relaxing and beautiful location
We had a wonderful stay (Mon Souvenir) during the first week of June 2013. The old farmhouse is large and has all the amenities you need and then some. The town of Gouville sur mer is very friendly and everything you need is right there. Even with our 4 children there was more than enough room and they really enjoyed the pool and rec room. It was a quiet, restful time to relax together.
